I think Shelter tried to get MPs to vote for a ban in lettings fees last November and failed. I’ve always wondered why and if it was just a lack of MP support.
I wrote to my current MP (well not gonna be current any more because I’m moving out of this county)… And this was he/she got from Eric Pickles. And here’s what it said :
So basically, the government will never ban lettings agents fees because “it is important that commercial operations are able to set their own terms and conditions without interference from the Government”.
Yay for the free market! How much freedom it gives us! (Not.)
Even more so I’m looking at buying my own house now to get out of the stupid lettings malarkey in England.
